NEEDCSI Partners Benue State Ministry of Education to build Peace


New Era Educational and Charitable Support Foundation in Partnership with Benue State Ministry of Education held its first Stakeholder’s peacebuilding assembly at Doo Palace Nyiman, Makurdi Benue State on Friday 27 September 2019. The Peace Assembly which is a platform for key stakeholders to promote the spirit of understanding, tolerance, interfaith dialogue, and peaceful co-existence and also an avenue for young ambassadors to interact and learn, was attended by members of civil societies, government officials, individuals and students. A total number of 68 participants were in attendance.


The Hon. Commissioner of Benue State Ministry of Education was represented by Hon. Aniho T. He thanked NEEDSI for the good work of promoting Youth Leadership and Peace through its School Based Youth Leadership and Peace Education Program and assured NEEDSI of the Ministry’s support always. The President, Federation of Muslim Women Association of Nigeria, Dr. Yakubu Mariam gave goodwill message as well as the Executive Director, Civil Society Action Coalition for Education for All, the President, JNI women wing, Benue State Chapter, Hajiya Hauwa Isah, and other invited guest.


The Topic for the day was Conflict Resolution: A Panacea for Peace. The Guest Speaker, Rev Fr Solomon Mfa was represented by Mr. Ayongu Simon. He shared knowledge on conflict resolution as it provides a solution to the prevention of Ethno-religious conflict and promotes harmonious coexistence. He spoke on the need to solving problems without bloodshed. Inclusiveness of youths was emphasized as key in advancing national peacebuilding processes.Rather than acknowledging the youth as perpetrators of violence, they should be engaged as social actors with their views and contributions.


Contributions from participants were on oneness, unity and promoting positive history. The meeting ended with a closing prayer by the Imam, Benue State Central Mosque,Mallam Haruna Rasheed Muh’d.
